Just managed to catch "Keramik", an exhibition of 6 German ceramic artists at the Contemporary Ceramics Centre in Russell St, London. (ends Oct 29th)
I particularly loved the work of Christiane Wilhelm from Munich. Although based on classical forms these vessels remind me of the shapes of thistle heads, seed heads and acorn cups. I also love the richly textured, monochromatic surfaces which are scored and incised, highly worked; but also showing great consistency and restraint which adds to their calm dignity. Gorgeous!
